Standard FCG Rules:
On Critiquing:
1. Be honest but factual - give examples
2. Try for a balance - there's good and bad in all stories. If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.
3. It's about the work not the person - don't make it personal
4. There are bound to be disagreements - this is good, just keep it civil. Please keep it to a friendly debate. Don't argue.
5. You absolutely don't have to post a critique every week but absenteeism will be noted when selecting a featured fanfiction.
6. Answer the TQ every week you post. We encourage the featured member to answer the TQ as well.
7. If you request to have your piece featured, great! We see the request. Don't keep asking over and over all week. That's just annoying!
8. You must critique the week prior to being featured. If you haven't critiqued that week your request to be featured will be overlooked until a week you've critiqued.
9. Best TQ answers are more for fun than anything else. If you want to be picked be clear, detailed, and apply your answer to the subject at hand.
10. Have fun! (Yes, that is a requirement.)
General Posting:**
1. Absolutely no harsh profanity. A simple “damn” or “hell” might be okay. But please keep it to a dull roar.
2. Write/speak in complete sentences. Net or chat speak will not be welcome or tolerate.
3. Only one exclamation point, question mark, and other punctuators is* needed. Using "?!?!??!" won't get answers faster, and using "!" gets your point across just as easily as "!!!!"
4. If you would like a new thread started please PM a mod or Admin.
5. While the mods are not infallible it is not for the members to decide they are being unfair. If you have a problem with the moderation here bring it to LLK personally. Only she will field complaints of this nature.
6. Mods, just because you have power over the members doesn't mean you have to use it. Don't abuse your abilities.
7. Posting requires thought. Posts shorter than a full, complete, sentence will be considered spam and may be deleted.
8. You may and most likely will receive some negative comments about your piece. Take it in stride, it happens to all of us.
9. No attacks on personal belief systems. Things such as religion, sexual orientation, or morality do sometimes come up in writing. If you disagree with the person, keep it to yourself. On the same token do NOT flaunt your more risque beliefs around, that's asking for trouble.
10. These rules aren't too hard. Abide by them. Exceptions can/may be made but it really isn't likely. They're the admins' rules and we're the only ones who can/may waive them. Don't count on it.
Though I won't want to, there will be significant penalties for broken rules. Please don't test our administrative team; swift, harsh, action will be taken in the case of all broken rules.
Min. 6 week probation from the FCG for failure to comply with Phase 2 challenge standards.
*Rule changed from previous FCG standard.
**As head administrator I (LLK) reserve to right to edit any posts so that they comply with FCG rules.
Challenge Week Rules:
Challenge Week Rules:
1. If you write a fic for the challenge you are obligated to write a critique for the fic you're assigned next week.
2. All challenge fics are due by the Saturday following the day the challenge was posted.
3. Do not post any links to your challenge stories anywhere in the FCG.
4. Private Message or email me a link to your story.
5. You must be an active participant in critique weeks to be allowed to take part in challenges.
Special Project Rules:
1. Though some special projects may have multiple phases like challenges you are not required to participate in all of them.
2. Special projects will come up randomly, if you don't like them simply don't participate. Wait for the next week.
3. These are designed to help you grow as a writer in one or more of the areas that writers tend to lose focus on. Think of it as a learning experience not a cop out.
4. Though these are generally based heavily on personal preference and taste, they are posted in the main forum. Keep the other members in mind when posting. Don't be obscene.
5. Try to take something away from challenges and special projects. (Yes, there is a rule saying to try, so try.)
